Mentor: Angel Martinez
About Angel
Angel Martinez has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a kid, she loved making books out of stapled sheets of bond paper, which ranged from retellings of her favorite fairy tales to narrations of mundane, day-to-day events. When she was five years old, she started her own blog which has since then evolved into LIFE DUMP, a creative space dedicated to documenting her personal growth through words and photographs.
Angel is currently a staff writer for Lithium Magazine and Reclamation Magazine. She is also a business student and mental health advocate. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career that serves as the intersection of these three facets of her life. But for now, when she’s not purging her emotions one personal essay at a time, she enjoys reading, watching 13 Going on 30, and having photoshoots in her bedroom.

Mentor Statement
I’m going to be a mentor for freelancing! Besides giving general tips on writing, networking, and life in general, I hope to discuss:
I can definitely give you feedback on your work, as well as provide a list of my personal resources. But I can’t edit your work directly, or promise you a position anywhere.
- My own creative/freelancing process
- How to consistently produce essays (and how my “everything can be content” principle helps me with that)
- How to make work that gets published and look for publications to cater to your work
