WELCOME TO ISSUE II
Letter from an Editor,
When we were deciding the theme of Juven, The Young Writers Initiative's Literary Magazine, we knew we wanted to encapsulate a diverse group of perspectives and personalities. Self-Portait is an ode to the diverse paths we all walk on, categorized in four sections: physique, culture, spirituality, and embrace. While our physique is not who we are, the body we come in affects our interaction with the world, whether good or bad. Our culture makes up our traditions, habits, and informs our personalities. Whether it be enjoying cultural foods, festivals, or interacting with those who share the same culture, it's evident that culture has a steady presence in the makeup of who we are. Our spirituality is connected to our soul. It's what we do and don't believe. And finally, embrace dives into the feelings that make us human, the types of love we enjoy and the struggles that come with it. Juven is honored to present breathtaking, intriguing, and colorful work to you by 34 wildly talented young writers and artists. We hope you enjoy this wonderful issue and support the writers and artists that contributed to it.
